Greetings in the Strong Name of Jesus!

I Samuel 17:45-47 - "David replied to the Philistine, "You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. Today the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! And everyone assembled here will know that the Lord rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the Lord’s battle, and he will give you to us!" NLT

Confidence is something most of us lack when it comes to the battle with spiritual forces. Why? I believe it mostly due to one of these facts: 1) We cannot see the spiritual forces; 2) We do not recognize the spiritual forces; 3) we are afraid of the spiritual forces.
I love David’s statement - "...but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies...." That is an incredible statement. It is very similar to a statement made sometime later in God’s Word by Paul when he says, "...If God is for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31 NIV Listen, we are Kids of the King Eternal Who has promised victory to those who follow Him. David was brimming with confidence not because he was such a good fighter...although he was. He was brimming with confidence not because he was a good shot with his sling...although he was. He was brimming with confidence because he knew the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He was brimming with confidence because he knew this God had helped him in times past with a bear and a lion. He was brimming with confidence because he recognized an enemy of God when he saw one and knew this was not God’s plan that the Children of Israel should hide in fear of an enemy of God and his people.

While we think we cannot see the spiritual forces that are against us, I challenge you to look around...lust, materialism, adultery, cheating, lying, substance abuse, food abuse...oops. These are common, everyday spiritual forces, in the form of temptations, working against you every day. When followed they will bring destruction to your home, your finances, your marriage, your family and your body. And what is Satan about? Destruction of your home, your finances, your marriage, your family and your body. Recognize these forces for what they are, face them without fear, in the confidence of God, who has already won the battle, and declare them already defeated! David’s confidence was not in his might nor his sling. His confidence was brimming over because of the Living Almighty God Who lived within Him. That same Almighty God lives within you - right now! And He desires victory for you - right now! Do battle in the Spirit filled confidence of God!
