Do I Take the Time to...

Greetings in the Strong Name of Jesus!

Time
Psalm 90:5 - “We glide along the tides of time as swiftly as a racing river and vanish as quickly as a dream. We are like grass that is green in the morning but mowed down and withered before the evening shadows fall.”  TLB

I don’t know about you but I have found that life is moving faster than I ever thought it would.  I erroneously thought when I was a child, life would somehow slow down as I got older for it seemed my childhood days were terribly short and filled with more naps and rest times than I could imagine.  I couldn’t wait to grow up so time would be in my control.  Well, here we are and time has not slowed down and for the most part, time is not in my control.  Yes, there are those moments in a day when I simply say - enough.  I turn off the phone, the computer, the TV and shut myself into a shell wishing I could somehow become a child again with days filled with naps and rest times...well for some of us it is(lol).

Our Word today speaks exactly to that issue - time.  Our time on this earth is relatively short.  When we realize that - “Psalm 90:4 - “A thousand years are but as yesterday to you! They are like a single hour!”  TLB" - we begin to understand why it seems time goes by so quickly.  And control it?  Forget it!  Oh, we still have those moments belonging singularly to us, but our time is occupied by the lives of others and circumstances beyond our control.  In light of God’s time, we truly are nothing but mown grass - green in the morning and brown in the afternoon.  This really should make us stop and take notice.  If this is all the time I have, what am I doing with it?

Am I investing in the really important issues of life or am I using my time for trivial pursuits?  These are the things that come to my mind when thinking of important, eternal issues - am I an encouragement to my wife in her walk with God?  Do I take the time to invest Godly values in my children and grandchildren?  Do I take time to nurture my walk with God so others see Christ in my every action and in my words?  Do I take time to talk to God?  Do I take time to support the ministry of my church?  Do I take time to pray for my church leaders and the leaders of my country?  Do I take time to evaluate the legacy I am leaving behind which others will remember?  Do I take time to appreciate the blessings God has placed in my life?  We too often glide along the tides of time as swiftly as a racing driver...am I going so fast I have no time for anything but ME?

which others will remember?  Do I take time to appreciate the blessings God has placed in my life?  We too often glide along the tides of time as swiftly as a racing driver...am I going so fast I have no time for anything but ME?

Time - we are all given the same amount - what we do with it is what really counts!
